World War l, “Food, don’t waste it”… 1917
This no-nonsense poster from 1917, “Food, don’t waste it” is a reminder of the importance of food conservation during World War I. At that time, many countries were facing shortages and rationing due to the war effort. People had to make do with what they had, so this poster was an important reminder for people to not take their limited resources for granted. The simple yet powerful message resonates today as we strive to reduce food waste and ensure everyone has access to nutritious meals. This vintage poster is a reminder of how far we have come in terms of food security and sustainability, while also providing us a window into history. FOOD FOR THOUGHT?

FAITH VS BELIEF

I’ve always believed that Faith was stronger than Belief. As I grew in the Faith, I would hear how the two are used interchangeably. Do we not know the difference? Do I?
Faith and Belief are not the same. The Biblical definition of faith – “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). I like KJV…”Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Some Scriptures are hard for me to recite in another version. Some Scriptures seems more fluid in King James. The dictionary definition of faith – Complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Faith in its truest from is when you have confidence in God to the point that it causes you to act.
James 2:19-21 KJV
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? (ABRAHAM believed what GOD said!)
Belief on the other hand, The dictionary definition of belief – An acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists. Therefore, we can believe and not have faith.
Think About It?
MISSING MAMAS
Happy Mother’s Day!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Even if people don’t know you, they will greet women with Happy Mother’s Day! They don’t realize that simple happy greeting may bring up painful memories of life, some may want to forget? To those who’s MOTHERS are no longer in this world, that may be loveless, mean, unavailable or just MIA, ‘Let your hearts be not saddened for the LORD loves you.’ No one seems to mention this aspect of Mother’s Day?
Some may not have had so a great a Mother. Are there cards for them? We can’t chose our Mothers or families but we can chose how we respond. FORGIVE THEM because that is what our Lord would want for us. Please do not perpetuate the treatment you endured from that less than perfect mom, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles and even the beloved grandparents.
Some are fortunate enough to have great Moms and families and some are not. To those who still have their Moms and they are great Moms, cherish them. And, to those who do not, chose not to live in their pain and forgive, that is for you.
Next time you want to greet someone with a traditional greeting, be mindful that ALL ARE NOT THE SAME.
